“Founder” is a really fancy word for “the one who decided to try to get this thing going”. You can call me Jackie. (I’ve also just started the Foodinati Flickr group. Please join!)
I’m 29, a Chillicothe native who moved to London for a decade and then decided that Cincinnati was the place to be. I’ve only been in town for eight days, but already I’ve sensed that the Queen City has a lot on offer in terms of food.
At home, I’m a voracious but essentially lazy cook, so everything I make is super-uncomplicated. My fiancé is half-English, half-French, and the grandson of a prolific and renowned food critic, so we’re hoping never to give birth to picky eaters.
I love to entertain, though I rarely delve into the place-setting-and-centerpiece, Martha Stewart level of entertaining. My friends are usually pretty happy with some good food and interesting people to talk to, and I’ve always just emailed out my invitations instead of using templates from Real Simple or whatever. I’m a lo-fi, informal hostess. Here’s a collage from some of my past parties to give you a better idea of the vibe.

Well Ms. 5chw4r7z and I enjoyed meeting you on Fountain Square tonight, we love the fact we always run into an old one or meet a new friend there. Hope to see you at the next supper club.

we just hit your website for the first time on 4/4/08. andrea and i are a couple who have been looking for this type of club for quite awhile. we are devout foodies who have had trouble finding kindred spirits. we have many friends but they just don’t share our passion of good food and wine. we would love to find out more. we both have kitchen skills (although as good as i think i am i’m not in andreas league). after looking at the collage i realize we may be a little older then the average, we are in our early fifties but we are very young of mind. please contact us if you are looking to expand your circle as we think we could add to the event.

I am a journalist working on a story about supper clubs. I don’t want to post all the details here. Will you please send me an e-mail a.s.a.p. to discuss?

Hello,
My husband and I just moved back to Cinti from Europe and have wanted to join a cooking club for quite some time. We love good food and wine without pretensions (and we shipped home quite a bit of good wine!) accompanied by fine music and conversation. As with the couple above, we may be a bit more seasoned than those pictured; we are in our late 40’s.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Linda

Hello Cincy Supper Club,
I work for the Food Network show Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives, hosted by Guy Fieri. I don’t know if you’re familiar with our show (http://www.foodnetwork.com/diners-drive-ins-and-dives/index.html), but we scour the country for those small, independently-owned, super-cheap restaurants that are still doing things the old-fashioned, home-cooked, made-from-scratch way. Right now, we’re gearing up to visit Cincinnati and the surrounding area, and I was hoping that you folks might have some suggestions for me, of your favorite Cincy cheap, delicious eats. Please feel free to write or call me with any questions, and ask around among friends and family for they’re favorite places to eat too. Thank you so very much for your time and thought on this – we depend so much on the expert opinions of local food lovers like you, so your two cents mean so much.
I look forward to hearing from you! Many thanks, and keep up the good foodie work.
Best,
Maggie

Have been thinking of starting something like this of my own since moving here from Sydney, Australia. I haven’t found many “foodies” or many restaurants worth their weight. How exciting that your group exists!

What a fantabulous idea!
